Crash Course in Molecular Biology (CCMB)
About the course
Molecular biology is an invaluable toolbox used in all branches of biology or biochemistry. When performing the identification of nematodes or plant species, the improvement and evaluation of germplasm with desired traits, molecular techniques like PCR and bio-informatics are critical. In this crash course biology, we will focus on plant biotechnology, but the ideas and skills can be transferred to other disciplines in biotechnology.
Plant biotechnology is fast growing and is knowledge and resource intensive. Progress and innovation can occur through collaboration in which researchers can come together and learn shared goals. Practical sessions are essential for future researchers to develop skills and build motivation and self-efficacy.
We aim to share research capacity, knowledge and technologies between Flemish researchers and African stakeholders and stimulate networking between institutes in Sub-Sahara Africa (SSA). For capacity building, IPBO strongly supports using all available tools and scientific knowledge to meet the sustainable development goals stated by the United Nations.
